When Calgary Flames hockey star Sheldon Kennedy meets Jana, a beautiful model, he falls in love. But when the marriage turns rocky Sheldon finally confesses the secret that has haunted him for years – that he experienced years of sexual abuse by his junior hockey coach, Graham James when he was a boy.
Dramatizing both Sheldon as an adult and as a young, vulnerable hockey phenom whose coach was like a god to him, the movie opens up the world of abuse in sports that went unreported for too long. By going public, Sheldon shocks the hockey community, the players and their families, and forces the hockey hierarchy to confront the culture of secrecy within their ranks.
